Subject:             The Next Tennessee State University President – Recommendation

The Tennessee State University National Alumni Association commends you on providing the leadership that resulted in the presentation of four candidates for our consideration for the presidency of Tennessee State. We have reviewed the position announcement indicating the preferred criteria and skills set for our new president, evaluated the academic credentials of each candidate, studied their experiences and backgrounds, attended each of the candidates’ forums on campus and gathered additional external information.

On behalf of the organization, I am pleased to share with you our recommendation of the individual whom we believe will be the best leader for our acclaimed institution. Our choice is Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover.

Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover has the qualities that we seek in the presidency of TSU, and, therefore, we wholeheartedly endorse her candidacy. Dr. Glover has the leadership credentials, having led the College of Business at Jackson State University and other major aspects of the university for several years; she has held the highest position in business by serving as a corporate board member of major Wall Street firms; and she has demonstrated her strength in the local and national business communities by forming successful partnerships and resourceful external relationships.

Finally, Dr. Glover is a 1974 honors graduate of Tennessee State University who has exemplified the mission of the university and proven that the foundation she received at TSU propelled her to the top of her profession. She is “one of our own” eminently qualified leaders. We urge you to act favorably on her candidacy and allow Tennessee State to benefit from the talent, skills and expertise that Dr. Glover will employ as she enhances our potential and elevates our beloved alma mater to international preeminence in the twenty-first century.
