Stellar Awards First Round Ballots Nominees Announced

First round ballots for the 29th Annual Stellar Awards, the gospel awards, were announced earlier this month. Voting began Nov.8 for SAGMA members only.

The top vote getters will advance to the final ballot, which was voted on from Nov.13 to Nov.20. The top four vote getters from the final ballot will become an official nominee of the Stellar Awards.

Some of the categories include Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, CD of the year, and Song of the Year.

Actress and singer, Tamela Mann received 10 nominations including Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year for her single “Take Me to the King” which topped the gospel Billboard charts for 19 consecutive weeks.

Other top nominees include Tasha Cobbs, Shirley Caesar, Lecrae, Hezekiah Walker, and Tye Tribbett.

Public voting ended will begin on Nov. 20. Final nominees will be announced on Dec. 3.

While Nashville is known worldwide as being the home of country music gospel music has been an important genre of music in the city.

The Stellar Awards is the first Gospel Music Awards show honoring Gospel music artists, performers, writers, producers, and video editors and will be held at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

The Stellar Awards is the only gospel music television awards program syndicated in over 40 markets nationwide. The show has been produced by Central City Productions since the show’s start in 1985.
